Full Description:

Our driver & guide will pick you up at 10:00 hrs at the Port of Kavala. We will start our tour with a visit to Biblia Chora Estate. With the Pangeon Mountain rising behind and its vineyard overlooking the Aegean Sea, Biblia Chora creates a tableau in which the winery, colours and sounds create a harmonious whole. Ongoing experimentation with the Greek varietals at the estate aims to assess how well they have adapted to the region and to evaluate their wine potential. Significant emphasis is also given to cultivating some lesser-known Greek varietals endemic to the Mount Pangeon region, with hopes of reviving them. The grape varieties grown by the estate are for White; Assyrtiko, Vidiano, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, and for Red; Agiorgitiko, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot. On the second part of our tour, we will visit the Estate Hatzigeorgiou which was founded in 1952 by Vasileios Hatzigeorgiou, a pioneer and visionary farmer, who formed an estate of 185 acres in Karyani. He realized the potential of the region for viticulture and created one of the first systematic vineyards with Greek and French varieties. The management of the estate was passed on to his son Vassilis Hatzigeorgiou, who with his wife, Rae, set off to create a modern and Mediterranean-styled winery. The vineyards of the estate cultivate the varieties: Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Expected arrival time at the Port of Kavala is 17:00 hrs.
